1936Tornado-Mrs. A.L. Wylie
The Tupelo tornado, the fourth
deadliest tornado in United
States history, slammed into
Tupelo, Mississippi at around
8:30 P.M. It was an F5 on the
Fujita scale, causing total
destruction along its path.
Fortunately, the tornado missed
the downtown business district.
Alexander Wylie, from Scotland, who was 55 in 1900 and 65 in 1910 and was listed as a Night Watchman in both years.

In the 1900 Federal Census
Alexander Wylie had a son Earle Wyle (24) (Illinois) listed as a Salesman Drug Store, so this may have
been the connection???  In the 1910 Federal Census, Earl Wylie (34) (Illinois) is listed as a Druggist in Pontotoc County, First Bastion
of Eerie, Mississippi.  By the 1920 Federal Census Earl Wylie (43) (Illinois) is listed as a Traveling Salesman / Drug Store in Davidson
County, Seventh Ward of Nashville, Tennessee.

1880 Federal Census
Eugene C. Stclair (not shown as St. Clair) is listed as the 12 year old child of Kate O. (28) (Teacher) (Mississippi) in Carroll County,
Vaiden, Mississippi - no father shown, and she is not listed as a Widow.  There are three other children Mary Belle (14), Wm. Henry (5),
and John J. (3), all born in Mississippi.
1900 Federal Census
Eugene C. Stclair (not shown as St. Clair) is listed as a Prescription Clerk in Lee County, Third Bastion, Tupelo, Mississippi.  He gave
his age at the time as 31 years of age.  He was born December 1869 in the state of Mississippi.   He is listed living with a Cousin, a
Julia Blair (43), a Widow (Mississippi).  
1910 Federal Census
Eugene C. Stclair (not shown as St. Clair) is listed as Merchant / Drug Store in Lee County, Fourth Ward of Tupelo, Mississippi.  He
gave his age at the time as 42 years of age.  Living with him on Brookings? Street were his wife of five years Ella May (29) (Alabama), a
daughter Kate Ollyn (3) (Mississippi), and two boarders named Thompson.
