Obituary W Arthur Skillern W Arthur Skillern president of the Texas Pharmaceutical Association widely known and the most
universally loved and admired druggist in the state died early Tuesday morning January 10 at his home 537 East Jefferson street
Dallas He had been affected with Bright's disease for a year or more but his condition was not thought to be serious until the day
before his death Mr Skillern was president and general manager of a string of retail drug stores in Dallas operated W ARTHUR
SKILLERN by Skillern & Sons He was a Scottish Rite Mason a member of the Shrine and of the Dallas Rotary Club He was born at
Lewisville Texas 36 years ago and had been a resident of Dallas twenty five years Surviving Mr Skillern are his widow Vera Malone
Skillern a daughter Edna Madge 10 years old his mother Mrs JA Skillern one brother and six sisters Funeral services were held at the
Oak Cliff Methodist Church of which Mr Skillern was a member at 2 30 o clock Wednesday afternoon January 11 The Rev George M
Gibson officiated Burial was in Oak Cliff cemetery On the afternoon of the funeral the three wholesale houses and two hundred and
sixty retail stores closed for ten minutes as a tribute to Mr Skillern The members of the Dallas Retail Druggists Association attended
the funeral in a body Mr Skillern was one of the assistant secretaries at the NARD convention in Denver last year
