Dear Mr. Bergseng, 4/7/2010
I came upon your fascinating site by accident, searching for a name on the internet. I suppose I tried that particular one because it is so
distinctive: Otha William Fenton Snyder, or OWF Snyder. He was a physician in Chicago, and my grandmother used to tell of working as a
receptionist or clerk in his office some time between about 1917 and his death in 1925.Mike & Donna Horstman Richland, Washington

There may well be other promotional materials out there. I do have a tiny (2.5 x 4") "brochure" ad that my grandmother saved. I
haven't pulled it out in a while, but I think it had maybe 8 pages (2 folded sheets) extolling Dr Snyder's inestimable reputation (I
remember a 3-panel set of oval photos w/ Dr S as a drummer boy in the Civil War, a young physician, and an older researcher into
medical mysteries or some-such). There was another oval pic of his son, ~6-8 yr old, with the quote: "My daddy cures sick
children" and descriptions of his products including the Obesity Cure: "That obesity is a disease is now well established by
medical science…" and Kidney Balsam: "…cures bed-wetting (enuresis), nocturnal emissions, kidney stones, and diabetes." He
was quite the shameless self-promoter.

Interesting, his office is not IN the McVicker's Theater Building at this point. My grandmother worked at his State St office, as I
said, probably some time between 1918 (age 19-20) and his death in 1925. I don't know how long she worked there.
