1870 Federal Census
Francis Flood is shown as the 16 year old son of James (49) (Indiana) (Merchant) and Rachel (40) (Indiana) Flood in La Porte County,
Westville, Indiana. Their other children were Anna S. (21) (Indiana), George R. (18) (Indiana), James O. (3) (Indiana).
1880 Federal Census
Francis M. Flood is listed as a Druggist in Bexar County, Third Ward of San Antonio, Texas. He gave his age at the time as 24 years
of age. He indicated that he was born in Indiana. He was living alone - no family.
These two may be brothers. They are not listed separately in 1870, so they must still be living with parents? The only real
connection with Utah is that Lula was born there around 1878. Vicenta who was born around 1877 shows Texas as her birthplace.
D. D. Dowling is listed as a Druggist in Bexar County, First Ward of San Antonio, Texas. He gave his age at the time as 30 years of
age. He said he was born in Ireland. Living with him were his wife B. C. (27) (Texas), and a daughter Lula (2) (Utah)
Jas (should be Jos ) Dowling is listed as a Druggist in Bexar County, Third Ward of San Antonio, Texas. He gave his age at the time
as 35. The census says he was born in Utah, but I think this is a mistake, because, I cannot find him in Utah as a child. There are
no iterations of the name in Utah in 1870 - I checked every possibility - in 1900 he said Ireland. Living with him were his wife
Vicenta (28) (Texas), and a daughter Vicenta (3) (Texas).
1900 Federal Census - there seems to be an age discrepancy here - his age would more likely be 55. The wife's age corresponds
with 1880, but his does not - he has to be the right guy - the details are just not meshing from census to census.
Joseph Dowling is listed as a Druggist in Bexar County, Seventh Ward of San Antonio, Texas. He gave his age at the time as 60
years of age. He was born August 1839 in Ireland. He emigrated to this country in 1865, and was a naturalized citizen. Living with
him were his wife of 26 years V. (48) (Texas), a visitor, a servant, and F. M. Flood (see below).
F. M. Flood (43) is listed living as a Boarder with Joseph Dowling. He gave his age at the time as 43 years of age. He was born April
1857 in the state of Indiana - he is shown as single.
